Here is how we created a table for 16 people when our kitchen table only seats 6 (8 if we squeeze).
Things you need:
2 4' x 8' OSB (plywood) boards
2 small pieces of wood (1" x 2" x 8")
4 screws
2 tablecloths
table decorations
What we did:
Set up our kitchen table and two card tables to make one long table.
Place a sheet over your tables to protect them from scratching.
Place two 4' x 8' OSB (plywood) boards over the tables. We cut one foot off each board to make the entire table 14' and fit better in our space. To secure the tables together we placed one small board (1" x 2" x 8" ) underneath the connection between boards. We screwed the OSB to the smaller pieces of wood.
Place your table cloths over the table.
You're ready to decorate.
What we used for the decorations:
10 beer bottles
1 can of spray paint
paper grocery bags
About 3 yards of burlap (light green) *get a longer piece of burlap if you don't want the table runner to be two pieces overlapping
Pine cones
Grass
Turkey feathers
Remnants of ribbon and fabric
GIVE THANKS BOTTLES
Spray the beer bottles. I didn't take the labels off and just sprayed over them. Let dry and do a second coat if needed.
Cut the burlap into a 2' wide by 9 yard section. I had to cut two of these and lay one over the other to make the table runner. You couldn't tell they overlapped.
Cut the rest of the burlap into 5" strips the entire length of the burlap (you will use these for the chairs)
Type the letters "GIVE THANKS" and change the font. I used Algerian size 200. I changed the page size to be 4" x 6" landscape with .25" margins. I spaced them so two letters fit on each piece. I cut the paper grocery bags into 4" x 6" pieces and printed the letters on these.
I then cut the letters into smaller squares and used the ribbon to attached them to the bottles. The feathers and grass were used as decoration in the bottles.

CHAIRS
I used what was leftover of burlap, ribbon, fabric, grass, pinecones, and feathers. Since we had a variety of kitchen chairs and folding chairs this helps to unify the look.
