This barn board headboard is made from 7 boards cut between 70" and 74". I cut them in different lengths for more of a rustic look.
Installing the headboard on the wall
Once your boards are cut, lay them out on the floor so you know the order you will place them. I wanted varying colors and sizes next to each other.
Find the studs on the wall and draw a line where they are. I found two studs on the ends of the boards.
Find a couple items to hold up the first board at the height it will start. (see picture below)
Use a level to be sure you will start the first board straight (or measure both sides to make sure they are the same.
Nail into the studs (I nailed into each stud twice for a total of 4 nails per board)
Place the next board, check if it is level and nail it.

Adding letters to the headboard
Find the font you want (this is always forever)
Type into program of your choice (I did this in Word) and change the size (this is about 800)
Print
Find the center of the board you're going to write on.
Hold the middle letter in place and outline with a pen. Press really hard to get a clear outline.
Continue for all the letters
Once your outline is done, start painting in the letters with a small paint brush. I did a very light coat on this. (see picture below)
